
In 2021, Zhang Zhang’s article published in Le Figaro in defense of classical music against cancel culture was downloaded more than 120,000 times during its first week of publication. A committed advocate of universalism and equality, she pursues, through her humanitarian activities and artistic work, the building of bridges between cultures and the fostering of closer ties among peoples.
For twenty-four years, Zhang Zhang was a member of the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra. She is also a soloist at the Royal Opera of Versailles.
Born in China during the Cultural Revolution, Zhang Zhang was denied formal education until the age of eighteen, when she entered university directly. Her exceptional journey later led her to earn two master’s degrees, one from Rice University in the United States and another from the Conservatory of Lausanne in Switzerland.
As the founder of Zhangomusiq, she has conceived and produced more than one hundred concerts aimed at raising awareness and providing financial support for humanitarian, environmental, and educational projects in more than forty countries.
As President of Skål International Monaco, she works to bring cultures closer together and to promote responsible tourism based on dialogue and international cooperation.
Her autobiography, La voie de l’archet, published by Fayard, received the Prix Parité Assurance in Paris in the “Destin de femme” (“Woman’s Destiny”) category.
A sought-after speaker, Zhang Zhang is regularly invited to address academic, educational, and international institutions, including the French Ministry of National Education, the Collège de France, the European Association for International Education (EAIE), the Summit of Conscience, and TEDx.
An engaged voice in public debate, Zhang Zhang is the author of numerous opinion pieces published in leading media outlets such as Le Figaro and Le Point. She is also a columnist for Le Droit de Vivre, the universalist journal of the LICRA, founded in 1932 by Bernard Lecache.
Recipient of the Jean-Pierre-Bloch Prize in 2021, an award established by the LICRA (International League Against Racism and Antisemitism) and named after the great French Resistance figure Jean-Pierre Bloch, Zhang Zhang was honored for her commitment to peace, universalism, and the fight against hatred and discrimination. The award was presented to her in Paris by H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, who thereby recognized her steadfast dedication to peace, intercultural dialogue, and human progress.
