Karl-Friedrich Israel

Karl-Friedrich Israel is Professor of Economics at the Université Catholique de l’Ouest (UCO) in Angers, France.

He previously served as a visiting professor at Saarland University in Saarbrücken and at the Institute for Economic Policy at Leipzig University, Germany.

He completed his undergraduate and graduate studies in Berlin, Paris and Oxford, before earning a doctorate in economics from the University of Angers in 2017, with a dissertation on the costs and benefits of central banking. He received his habilitation (HDR) from the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in 2023 for his research on the neutrality of money and the unintended consequences of monetary policy.
